If you spend any time shooting—whether it’s training, competition, or just range days—you know cleaning and maintaining your firearms is part of the deal. But not all cleaning products are created equal.
Recently I had the opportunity to test a firearm cleaning system that’s a little different from the typical harsh-smelling chemicals we’re used to. These products are USA-made, environmentally friendly, and designed with advanced nano-technology that actually bonds to metal surfaces to improve performance and protection.
And here’s the best part — they don’t smell like a chemical factory exploded on your workbench.
These products are people-friendly and earth-friendly, but let’s be clear… that doesn’t mean they’re safe to drink. So don’t go adding them to your morning coffee or energy drink.
What they are designed to do is clean, protect, lubricate, and extend the life of your firearms using technology that bonds to metal surfaces to reduce friction and wear.
Why Modern Spartan Systems Works
The science behind these products is actually pretty interesting.. and to be honest, way over my head, but I was willing to give it a go, especially if it meant less cleaning and more reliability even in hard conditions, I was all for it.
They use nano-particles that bond to metal surfaces, creating a smoother surface that reduces friction. Less friction means:
• Better firearms operation
• Reduced wear and corrosion
• Lower operating temperatures
• Improved reliability
• Longer life for components like barrels and slides
Reducing friction also means powder residue and debris are less likely to stick, which translates to something every shooter loves: Less cleaning. Can I hear a woot – woot!?
The lubrication properties also help maintain consistency, which can improve accuracy, tighter groupings, and more consistent chronograph results—something competition shooters definitely care about.
Another big benefit is that these products are designed to perform even in harsh environments, including high heat, heavy use, rain, snow and cold temps, and dirty conditions in general.
And again… no harsh chemical smell while you’re using them.
Carbon Destroyer
The first step in the process is Carbon Destroyer, and it does exactly what the name suggests. This cleaner was originally developed to remove carbon deposits from jet engines and machine gun components, so naturally it works extremely well on firearms.
Carbon Destroyer works by:
• Dissolving heavy carbon deposits
• Breaking down oils and grease
• Removing both natural and synthetic lubricants
• Loosening stubborn fouling
It’s water-based, non-corrosive, and safe for all metals, which makes it a great starting point for your firearm cleaning routine. It also works extremely well in ultrasonic cleaners, making it useful for deep cleaning parts when needed.
Copper & Lead Destroyer
After carbon removal, the next step is tackling another major source of fouling: copper and lead deposits. The Copper & Lead Destroyer is designed to remove these additional deposits while remaining safe for all firearms.
Key benefits include:
• Dissolves copper and lead fouling
• Removes salts and corrosive residues
• Safe on barrels and all metal surfaces
• Will not etch or pit firearm barrels
This product works especially well when used after the Carbon Destroyer, helping complete the deep cleaning process before lubrication. Like the rest of the system, it’s environmentally friendly, low odor, and safe to handle.
Accuracy Oil
Once the firearm is properly cleaned, it’s time for lubrication. Accuracy Oil is designed to reduce friction while providing excellent lubrication and corrosion protection.
This oil:
• Reduces friction between metal surfaces
• Creates a low-stick surface that reduces powder buildup
• Protects metal components from corrosion
• Improves overall firearm performance
Because the nano-particles bond to the metal surface, the lubrication effect lasts longer and helps keep firearms running smoother. Less residue sticking to components also means less time spent cleaning later. Hellooooo!!!
Accuracy Grease
The Accuracy Grease works alongside the oil to provide additional lubrication where grease is recommended by firearm manufacturers.
This grease:
• Reduces friction on high-load surfaces
• Restores minor surface metal imperfections
• Improves reliability and reduces malfunctions
• Extends the life of moving components
A little goes a long way, making it a very cost-effective addition to your maintenance routine. Anywhere your firearm manufacturer recommends grease, this product can help provide smoother operation and longer component life.
Crystal Clear (Optics & Glass Cleaner)
While most of this product line focuses on firearm maintenance, Crystal Clear serves a slightly different purpose.
This cleaner is designed for optics, lenses, and other glass or coated surfaces.
Crystal Clear safely cleans and protects:
• Rifle scopes and optics
• Shooting glasses
• Phones and electronics
• Other coated glass surfaces
It works by cleaning the surface and then leaving behind a nano-layer polymer coating that helps protect against buildup.
Benefits include:
• Anti-fog protection (similar to Rain-X style performance)
• Anti-static properties
• UV resistance
• Safe for specialty lens coatings
• No ammonia or petrochemicals
It’s gentle enough for sensitive optics but strong enough to leave surfaces crystal clear.
I actually tested this on my phone screen because my screen protector tends to collect fingerprints constantly. I sprayed it on the screen, waited the recommended 15 seconds, and wiped it clean. The surface felt noticeably smoother and cleaner afterward, and I found that it didn’t pick up fingerprints nearly as quickly as it had before. That alone was a pretty nice bonus.
My Overall Testing Experience
Of course, the real question is: does it actually work? I cleaned my firearm the way I normally would, thinking I had done a pretty solid job.
Then I used the Carbon Destroyer…and… it immediately started pulling out more carbon that I had missed. So either I’m a terrible cleaner (I’m not), or this stuff really works.
Next, I followed up with the Copper & Lead Destroyer, and again it continued pulling fouling that I thought had already been removed. Dang, that’s just crazy!
After applying the Accuracy Oil, it felt smoother and without that overly greasy feel that some oils leave behind.
There’s also a break-in style process where you:
• Lubricate
• Shoot a few rounds
• Re-lubricate
• Shoot again
• Repeat for a total of 5 times
I know, seems extra, but you only need to do this priming process one time, and after that the nano-particles remain bonded to the metal surface. So, a little extra work for a better clean, longer lasting and better for your firearm and parts.
This helps extend the time between cleanings — and you only need to add small amounts of Accuracy oil moving forward.
Living in Texas, I don’t deal with extreme cold (thank goodness), but we definitely deal with dust, sand, and heat.. extreme heat and humidy, so I’m excited to see how this performs during my competition shooting in harsher environments.
If it means less cleaning and smoother operation, I’m all for it.
Want to Try It? Use my Code
Their starter kit runs about $65, and it sounds a little high, but honestly a little goes a long way. The product itself is a very thin liquid, almost like water, which means you really don’t need to use much at all for it to work effectively.
If you’re interested in trying these products yourself, I’ve got a coupon code for you. Use code WTFKristen and you’ll get 10% off your order.
So in the long run, the products are already pretty affordable, because they are efficient, and if they reduce the time you spend cleaning your firearm… Why wouldn’t you?
But Wait, there is More! LOL
In addition to firearm cleaning products, they also have products designed specifically for suppressor protection and maintenance, fishing tackle cleaning and even knife cleaning.
Another product that caught my attention is their TVT engine oil formula, which is designed for automotive use including engines such as cars, trucks, boats, snowmobiles, heavy equipment and even generators. And don’t forget, it too is environment and people safe – but again, don’t go taking shots of TVT. Living on the Gulf of America just north of Galveston, Texas where hurricanes are always a concern, generators are something many people rely on during power outages. Having products that help equipment run smoother and last longer can be very useful in those situations, and any engines!
If you have any questions about the products or my experience testing them, feel free to reach out. I’m always happy to share what I learn along the way.

You can explore their full product line on their website.
They also have a YouTube channel with demonstrations and product testing videos. I watched several of their videos while researching the products, and some of the demonstrations with the TVT product are especially impressive because you can visually see the results.
